16 / 18 April
The Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup initiative has been running since the inaugural BRDC F4 season in 2013, and has continued through the series’ transition into BRDC British F3 and then GB3, with in excess of £30,000 awarded to drivers during the past eight seasons.
The award is named after Jack Cavill, who played a vital supporting role in the early careers of several notable drivers from the 1960s onwards. The driver with the most pole positions* each season wins a trophy and a cheque for £1,000. £200 cash prizes and a trophy are awarded to drivers who secure poles for races one and two each weekend.
The prizes are presented at each round by Jack's son John, who has followed in his father's footsteps, helping famous names such as Tim Sugden, Will Power and Anthony Wilds (son of Mike). The 2013 Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup was won by champion Jake Hughes with George Russell claiming the 2014 prize, having taken the award on a tie-break ahead of his Lanan Racing team-mate Arjun Maini, while Will Palmer was the last winner of the BRDC F4 era.
The 2016 winner was Ricky Collard, while Enaam Ahmed was the recipient of the prize in his dominant 2017 campaign. Linus Lundqvist claimed the award in his championship-winning 2018 season, while Johnathan Hoggard was the clear winner in 2019. Kaylen Frederick added his name to the list of winners on the way to securing the 2020 championship.
*Only poles secured for races one and two each weekend count towards the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup.
