Fortec Motorsport’s Mikkel Grundtvig won the final race of the 2021 GB3 Championship season at Donington Park, heading home Chris Dittmann Racing’s Alex Fores and Arden Motorsport’s Frederick Lubin. Here’s how the three drivers reacted at the end of the race.

Winner, Mikkel Grundtvig, Fortec Motorsports:
“It was a really good race, thanks to Fortec Motorsport for an incredible year and as well to my sponsors who have been supporting me. It’s been an amazing year and an amazing way to finish the weekend and also the whole season.

“When I got the gap I was just trying to be calm and then drive it safely home, it couldn’t have gone more perfectly. There wasn’t much pressure from behind, I just got my head down and kept looking forward.”

Second, Alex Fores, Chris Dittmann Racing:
“It’s amazing, what a weekend, I’ve really enjoyed it. I had a clean start, got away, put my head down, didn’t make any mistakes and held on. Thanks to Dave Bromfield who has got me all the way here into the GB3 Championship, and without his support I wouldn’t even be karting at the moment, so this is for him.

“I made a good start and got a jump on them [the Douglas Motorsport drivers], put it through the middle and they had to get out the way. I sent it round the outside and got it done. And then it was a case of putting my head down and bringing it home.

“Thanks to the CDR boys for keeping the faith in me, and for doing a great job, it’s been amazing.”

Third, Frederick Lubin, Arden Motorsport:
“I couldn’t really have wished for anything better, obviously two thirds in a row. It’s really good for the team after a really tough weekend so it was great to end it on a high like this. I honestly couldn’t have thought for a better way to end the year.

“I got a good start, I really focused on the warm up and getting off the line was key. Then I went in hard into turn one and the gaps opened up, and we found ourselves in third. From then on it was a three horse race at the front and it was quite hard to catch anyone. But the first lap was pretty fun!
