Christodoulou: “We are fighting like every race is our last”

01 September 2022

Canadian ace Nico Christodoulou was a late addition to this year’s GB3 grid with Arden Motorsport, but the 17-year-old has quickly found the pace needed to impress.

The Ontario resident heads to Brands Hatch off the back of his strongest showing yet in GB3 at Silverstone, where he qualified just over a tenth of a second away from pole position and claimed two seventh-place finishes, his best results yet.

While happy with the progress shown so far, his eyes are set on further gains.

“The progress has been fully focused on pushing to the top of the grid. There is still more to gain every second I spend in the car but the trajectory has been great so far.

“It’s great to be at the top and competing with the best in this series after joining mid-way, but it feels great that I am able to compete and feel confident to make it in the top spots.

“We have shown pace and I’m looking forward to proving it again at Brands Hatch.”

As well as adapting to a new car, team and continent, Christodoulou has also had to contend with circuits that are rather different to those on the other side of the Atlantic.

“North America has many great and historic tracks. I find that the tracks in Europe are very wide and have smoother surfaces compared to North America. Every track I have been to so far has been high on my liked track list!”

He now heads to another personal new track, the mighty Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, and Christodoulou is keen to continue his learning curve.

“Coming into the GB3 Championship, I have learned that the competition level is very high, the grid is very close and us drivers are fighting like every race is our last. I think more progress could be made or found in the experience and learning who you are racing with on track.”
