Granfors grabs top spot in final Thursday test at Donington Park

26 May 2022

Fortec’s Championship leader Joel Granfors set the fastest time in a red flag interrupted final session of the day at Donington Park.

The Swedish driver’s best time of 1m24.004s came before the second red flag of the session, and put him half a second of Hitech’s Luke Browning, who had just enough time at the end of the restarted session to squeeze into second place. Browning’s session two effort of 1m23.622s remained the best of the day.

Elite’s John Bennett was third fastest, 0.036s behind Browning, while Carlin’s Callum Voisin made his first appearance of the test after sitting an exam this morning. Voisin was a quarter of a second shy of Bennett and 0.005s ahead of Elite’s Tom Lebbon in fifth.

JHR’s Matthew Rees ended his day with the sixth fastest time, just over a tenth of a second ahead of Arden’s David Morales in seventh.

Session one topper Roberto Faria set the eighth quickest time for Carlin, half a tenth clear of Arden newcomer Nico Christodoulou, who has steadily climbed the order in his first day of GB3 testing.

Douglas Motorsport’s Max Esterson topped the times early on, and completed the top-10, just over a second away from top spot.

Testing at Donington resumes tomorrow morning, with the first session of the day at 11.15, and live timing available on the GB3 website.
