Browning leads the way in opening Friday test

Hitech GP’s championship leader Luke Browning led the way in the first Friday test session at Donington Park.

The British driver, who enjoys a 16.5-point lead at the top of the standings, was 0.145s clear of Elite’s Tom Lebbon in the session, which was brought to an early halt when the third Chris Dittmann Racing car went off the road at the Old Hairpin.

Lebbon’s teammate John Bennett, who was fastest yesterday, was third this time around, less than a tenth away from his teammate and 0.007s ahead of CDR’s McKenzy Cresswell, who continued his strong form from Thursday.

Championship challenger Joel Granfors was fifth, within three tenths of the outright pace and 0.103s ahead of Cresswell’s teammate Zak Taylor.

Callum Voisin was the lead Carlin driver in seventh, 0.045s ahead of Douglas Motorsport’s Max Esterson, with Cian Shields (Hitech) and Matthew Rees (JHR) completing a top-10 covered by 0.675s.

The top-16 cars in the session were covered by less than a second, with the final test due to commence at 15.05.
