Lebbon ends Friday on top at Donington Park

14 October 2022

Elite’s Tom Lebbon posted the fastest time of the day in an extraordinarily close final GB3 test session of the week at Donington Park this afternoon.

The British driver’s time of 1m23.643s put him just 0.033s faster than Hitech GP’s championship leader Luke Browning, who set exactly the same time as Carlin’s Callum Voisin.

Chris Dittmann Racing’s Zak Taylor in fourth was within half a tenth of the pace, with Arden VRD’s Nico Christodoulou fifth and less than a tenth of a second away from top spot, having led much of the session.

Lebbon’s teammate John Bennett, whose time of 1m23.036s set yesterday remained unbeaten, was sixth fastest in the final session, and 0.009s clear of JHR’s Matthew Rees.

Douglas Motorsport’s Max Esterson was within three tenths of a second of the pace in eighth place, with Hitech’s Bryce Aron and Fortec title contender Joel Granfors completing the top-10, which was covered by just 0.402s.

Only six tenths of a second covered the top-15 runners, while Elite’s newcomer Ayato Iwasaki ended his pre-event testing in 20th but only 1.2s away from top spot.

The GB3 field are back in action for qualifying at the Donington Decider at 10.50 tomorrow (Saturday).
