What they said: Snetterton race three

26 June 2022

Mikkel Grundtvig, Marcos Flack and James Hedley were the top-three finishers in the final race of the weekend at Snetterton. Here’s how each driver reacted at the end of the event.

Winner, Mikkel Grundtvig, Fortec Motorsport:
“It’s been a very tough weekend, we started qualifying with a problem with the engine and we had the same thing in race one. It was better today and the team and I have worked very hard all weekend to focus on race three, so I’m very happy with this race. I’ve had it a few times now in the reverse, starting from pole or the top-three, and I think this is the best race I have ever done.

“I always try to focus on my dream when times are tough, and not let myself get down, and this is a confidence boost for Spa.”

Second, Marcos Flack, Douglas Motorsport:
“I feel like I put a bit of pressure on Grundtvig and it’s just how things ended up. I wasn’t able to get him on the last lap, and James wasn’t able to get me either. I reckon it was a great race between us though.

“If the safety car hadn’t come out he may have driven away or James could have got me, we’ll never know. I’m happy with how that race ended up and hopefully we can build on that for the next round.

“My starts haven’t been the strongest in this category so far this year, but I seem to have nailed it this weekend. My starts in all three races have been pretty good and coming into this one I knew I would get someone off the start.”

Third, James Hedley, Elite Motorsport:
“It’s good to see that we’ve improved the pace, I didn’t have it in quali for whatever reason but it’s definitely a good step forwards. I was able to challenge him but I wasn’t ever close enough, it’s so hard to follow.

“I don’t know if we did quali again, how far up we’d be, but we’d definitely make a good improvement. I still think there’s a bit more to find but there’s definitely a good improvement across the races. We’ve looked at the data and made a few tweaks that really do help as the car is so sensitive, so the small things can make a big difference.

“I can’t wait for Spa, it sounds like it’ll suit my driving style with it being fast and flowing and it’s going to be so cool to race around there.”
