Browning blasts to fastest time of testing so far

15 April 2022

Hitech GP’s local man Luke Browning set the fastest time of testing so far this week in the opening Friday session at Oulton Park.

The British driver’s time of 1m28.601s was over a tenth quicker than yesterday’s benchmark set by Fortec’s Joel Granfors. The Swedish driver was second quickest in this morning’s session with a time almost identical to yesterday’s overall best, while Carlin’s Roberto Faria put a difficult day behind him yesterday by setting the third quickest time, just over a quarter of a second away from the outright pace.

McKenzy Cresswell enjoyed his best session of testing so far with the fourth quickest time for Chris Dittmann Racing, just 0.032s ahead of Faria’s teammate Callum Voisin, with reigning British F4 champion Matthew Rees sixth for JHR Developments.

Elite’s Tom Lebbon was seventh, and the first of five drivers covered by less than a tenth of a second. He was just 0.010s ahead of Douglas Motorsport’s Marcos Flack, with Carlin’s Javier Sagrera 0.023s further back in ninth.

Lebbon’s teammate John Bennett completed the top-10, 0.007s ahead of Max Esterson’s Douglas car.

The top-15 drivers in the session were all covered by less than a second. Today’s second session, and the final test of the week ahead of qualifying is due to commence at 14.05, with live timing available on the official GB3 website.
