26 May 2022

Hitech GP’s Luke Browning set the pace in Thursday’s second test session of the day at Donington Park. The British driver’s time of 1m23.622s was the best seen so far today, and came with around three minutes remaining in the session.

He was just over a tenth of a second ahead of Arden’s Alex Connor, a double podium finisher at the circuit last year, with JHR’s Matthew Rees less than a tenth away in third.

Fortec’s Championship leader Joel Granfors was just 0.013s further back in fourth, and 0.038s ahead of Carlin’s session one pace-setter Roberto Faria, who set exactly the same lap time as Elite’s James Hedley, who was sixth fastest.

Douglas Motorsport’s Max Esterson was 0.026s further back and within three tenths of the outright pace in seventh.

Elite’s Tom Lebbon brought out a red flag mid-session when his car stopped out on track, but still posted the eighth best time, 0.002s ahead of former teammate Javier Sagrera, who placed his Carlin car ninth.

Arden’s David Morales completed the top-10, which was covered by less than eight tenths of a second. The top-12 drivers were within a second of the overall pace.

As well as Faria and Hedley, Tommy Smith and John Bennett also shared idential lap times, as they claimed 13th and 14th positions on the timesheet.

Debutant Nico Christodoulou improved his pace to climb to 17th in session two, just 1.6s away from Browning’s time.

The third and final session of the day at Donington Park is due to start at 17.05, with live timing available on the GB3 website.
