Granfors leads Friday session two at Donington Park

27 May 2022

Fortec Motorsport’s Joel Granfors set the pace in a curtailed second test session at Donington Park.

The Swedish driver had just set the fastest time, a tenth of a second ahead of JHR’s Matthew Rees, when the red flags flew after Hitech’s Luke Browning went off at the Old Hairpin with 10 minutes remaining.

Browning, who was third fastest, emerged unscathed from the accident, but minor repairs to the tyre barrier ensured an early end to the session.

Callum Voisin, who missed this morning’s action due to another exam, was fourth for Carlin, 0.009s away from Browning and half a tenth clear of the ever-improving Arden car of debutant Nico Christodoulou.

The Canadian was a similar margin ahead of Douglas Motorsport’s New Yorker Max Esterson, who was 0.024s ahead of Elite’s Tom Lebbon.

Roberto Faria was 0.056s further back for Carlin and less than a tenth clear of Lebbon’s teammate John Bennett in ninth, with the third Elite entry of James Hedley completing the top-10, which was covered by 0.914s.

The final session of the day is due to commence at 17.45, with live timing available on the GB3 website.
