06 May 2022

Elite Motorsport’s James Hedley set the fastest lap of testing so far with his effort in Friday’s first session at Silverstone this afternoon.

The 18-year-old’s time of 1m52.304s was over half a second clear of teammate Tom Lebbon at the top of the times, and came five minutes before the end of the session.

Lebbon narrowly pipped JHR’s Matthew Rees to second place, with the pair separated by 0.020s.

McKenzy Cresswell carried over his good form so far this week with the fourth quickest time for Chris Dittmann Racing, and 0.028s ahead of Douglas Motorsport’s Max Esterson.

Championship leader Luke Browning was 0.068s further back and less than a tenth of a second ahead of Arden’s Alex Connor, who made his first appearance of the week after flying back from Dubai yesterday.

John Bennett was eighth for Elite Motorsport, and set exactly the same lap time as Carlin’s Javier Sagrera, with the Spaniard’s teammate Callum Voisin completing the session one top-10.

Roberto Faria (Carlin) and David Morales (Arden) missed the session due to exams and illness respectively.

The final session of the week is scheduled to start at 15.10.
