Javier’s jottings – Sagrera recaps 2022 season

17 November 2022

Javier Sagrera’s second season in the GB3 Championship came with plenty of highs and a few lows too. But the Spaniard again showed his pace and enjoyed an upturn in form and fortunes in the second half of the season.

Here’s how Sagrera reviewed his year:

Best moment
Best moment for me probably would be my start and first lap at Snetterton race two, driving off from P6 on the grid to P3 at turn two. And getting my first podium of the season.

Toughest moment
There has been too many tough moments this season but definitely race one at Silverstone, the first time we went there, and my car broke down mid race.

Favourite race of the year
Spa Francorchamps is always a very special one. Iconic and really cool track to drive so I would pick that one. It wasn’t the greatest on performance but was good fun.

Favourite driver to race against this year
I didn’t really have any favourite drivers but there has been really good and respectful battles between all of us this year.

That ‘what if’ moment
Ahhh too many also! I could have got pole at Donington if it wasn’t for my straight line speed. Pole at Silverstone was also doable if it wasn’t for my extra weight on power on the last corner and really we also came very close at Snetterton.

If I could race anything next year, it would be…
Well, plans are still unsure but my aim is to keep stepping up the ladder in Europe.

I’m going to spend my winter doing…
Winter will be all about preparations, changes and new challenges to arrive at my best for next season and achieve everything that’s on my mind. I would also like to spend some time skiing if possible also.
