What they said – Snetterton race one

25 June 2022

Carlin’s Callum Voisin claimed his second win of the year in the first race of the weekend at Snetterton, with Hitech’s Luke Browning and Fortec’s Joel Granfors joining him on the podium. Here’s how each driver reacted at the end of the race.

Winner: Callum Voisin, Carlin:
“It was quite tricky actually, I know I led the whole race but Luke behind was extremely quick. I was having to look in my mirrors quite a bit because he was so fast. It was all about maintaining that gap, thankfully I did and managed to bring it home.

“It’s always nice to beat your opponents, especially Luke who I think is leading the championship now. It’s definitely a confidence booster. A bigger gap would have been nice, but you can’t have everything!”

Second: Luke Browning, Hitech GP:
“That was lovely, I got a good start off the second row, it felt like a good launch. It’s so difficult to follow around here, every time I slightly caught him there was so much wash and I dropped back a couple of tenths on the next corner.

“It felt like when I backed off a bit at the start I was able to catch him quite quickly again but he drove a great race without any mistakes.”

Third: Joel Granfors, Fortec Motorsport:
“It was a poor start from my side, I lost out to Luke and it felt like I had good pace, I don’t know if the guys in front were slower or struggling with pace but I was stuck behind. I had a few tries at getting past at turn one and two especially but it didn’t work.

“Next time I need to make sure I don’t lose positions at the start. Then I need to be as close as possible and force them into a mistake, that was what I was trying to do with Luke but it didn’t pay off!”
