What they said: Brands Hatch race three

11 September 2022

Branden Oxley, Cian Shields and Roberto Faria were the top three finishers in the final race of the weekend at Brands Hatch. Here's how they reacted at the end of the contest.

Winner, Branden Oxley, Chris Dittmann Racing:

"That was a long 10 laps but I pushed every lap, not been the best of weekends but nice to end like this.

"I remained focused, my car was about to set on fire because it was so bloody hot but it didn’t put me out of focus, I knew that Flack had a penalty, phew!

"Thank you everyone who stood by my side, this win is for everyone, it’s not the win I wanted but it’s a win, I’ll take it."

Second, Cian Shields, Hitech GP:

"It’s really good, been struggling a bit this weekend for pace, but happy we got here for the last race of the weekend.

"I think it’s going really good, every time I get in the car it’s getting better and better, I’m really looking forward to the last round at Donington, see what we can do because I feel like the pace is getting better and better.

"Another podium is the aim hopefully."

Third, Roberto Faria, Carlin:

"We had a couple of problems in qualifying, we weren’t really fast so I had to start from the back. We did some really good overtakes in the other race and this one was the same, seventh to the podium, it was quite a good start for me, I was P4 after the red flag. But it’s a really hard track to overtake on, I was trying to put pressure on Shields during the whole race but he was in the tow of Oxley and then it was just really hard to do anything behind, a couple of laps I was really close to him in the first corner but it was just really hard to overtake.

"It was not as we expected, we didn’t have the pace and during free practice yesterday I actually had a gearbox issue so I didn’t do any laps, I went straight into qualifying. On Friday we were on Brands Indy and this was Brands GP so I didn’t have anything for the car which I think has also compromised the weekend. This race has saved us a bit, a couple of points. The guys who were fighting in the championship had not good results so good points for us."
