What they said: Donington Park race two

Max Esterson, Luke Browning and Joel Granfors were the top-three finishers in the second race of the weekend at Donington Park. Here’s how each driver reacted at the end of the contest.

Winner, Max Esterson, Douglas Motorsport:
“This feels great, I mean it was a pretty straightforward race. I got a decent launch off the line and had a bit of a battle into the Old Hairpin but managed to hold on. From there I was just looking forward as it’s very difficult to pass unless the leader makes a mistake, so as long as I didn’t make a mistake I knew it would be pretty easy.

“Once you get the start and you’re in the lead, it’s pretty hard to lose it unless you make a big mistake, and that was the key to it all.”

Second, Luke Browning, Hitech GP:
“What a result from P6 on the grid. The car underneath me, as you can see with the fastest lap, was just amazing. It’s perfect, exactly what we needed and a bit of a salvage from an absolute nightmare of a weekend with bad luck not being on our side, but it is what it is.

“A good start was the key, I got the reaction time pretty much nailed and the pull away was really good. I was on the limiter on first as the limiter in first gear in these cars is slightly lower than in second. I just managed to time it right and god was it a good feeling!”

Third, Joel Granfors, Fortec Motorsport:
“The first race wasn’t perfect but now we’ve finished a race and in P3, and I’m happy to get some good points.

“We saw how Luke Browning went round the outside of a few people including me in turn one, so I hope we can make up some positions in race three, especially in the beginning of the race and try and keep it going

“I’m not thinking about the championship while I’m out there racing, maybe just between the races.”
