What they said: Oulton Park race two

18 April 2022

Luke Browning, Roberto Faria and Joel Granfors were the top-three finishers in the second race of the weekend at Oulton Park. Here's how each driver reacted at the end of the contest.

Winner, Luke Browning - Hitech GP
"It’s never easy to win around here. And it’s never easy to win full stop in a championship like this. You’ve only got to look at the times in qualifying, it just shows again just how much we’ve put in over the winter.

"I feel really, really prepared for this championship and it’s paying off so far. It’s just about being consistent, putting in lap after lap and enjoying it a little bit as well. Times like that are very rare, and when you do you’ve got to enjoy it so yeah, I’ve got a smile on my face."

Second, Roberto Faria - Carlin:
"Today the team did a good job. We looked at the data and we were way faster than the first race so we found some pace. At the end there were yellow flags so I was just managing the tyres and I opened the gap [to third] and was quite comfortable there.

"The car really improved from one race to the other so thanks to the team. We did good work yesterday and this morning and it was a good start. It’s quite hard to start from second place – yesterday I nearly lost the position because it was quite dirty – and this race I started from third so I could just gain one position from the clean part of the track.

Third, Joel Granfors - Fortec Motorsport:
"I think it’s a bit sh*t to start on the left side because it’s dirty.

"I had pretty good pace in the beginning but I was stuck behind [Faria] and in the end I think I was a bit too close at the beginning because started to overheat and then it was just trying to keep [Matthew] Rees behind."
