Matthew Rees’ Silverstone pole double has seen him draw level at the top of the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup standings.
The Welshman’s superb qualifying efforts at the home of the British Grand Prix means he now has three pole positions to his name this year, adding to his first of the season at Snetterton.
The JHR driver is tied at the top of the standings with last year’s winner Callum Voisin, who took his own double at Spa and one at Snetterton also.
It’s tight all round on the leader board, with Voisin’s Rodin Carlin teammate John Bennett and Rees’ teammate Joseph Loake both on two poles apiece.
“I had a good car in the end, we were struggling with balance on Friday, a bit of over-rotation. But dialling that out, we were able to maximise the car and the car just gripped on entry” Rees said. “I think that's what has helped us today."
Drivers in GB3 earn £250 for each pole position as well as a trophy, with the prizes supplied by John Cavill. The driver with the most poles at the end of the season wins a £2,000 prize.
