Elite Motorsport’s McKenzy Cresswell capped off his most successful GB3 event yet, by adding the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award to his race victory and podium trophies.
Cresswell’s best race lap of 1m53.520s came in the second contest of the weekend, as he blasted to his first victory in the series around a circuit where he’s racked up consistent podium finishes this season.
The 17-year-old is the fourth driver to claim the honour this year, with Joseph Loake and Tymek Kucharczyk claiming the prize at Oulton Park and the first Silverstone visit respectively, before Alex Dunne’s double across the Spa-Francorchamps and Snetterton events.
"It gives me confidence, I know I’m as fast as anyone out here and the car has the pace absolutely to be at the front” said Cresswell. “It’s a really good feeling and it gives me a lot of confidence.”
Cresswell's performances across the weekend, which included second place in race one ahead of his maiden triumph in race two, have elevated him to fifth place in the championship standings, just 56 points away from the summit.
