Race-winner Faria moves up to FIA F3 with PHM Racing by Charouz

GB3 race-winner Roberto Faria will graduate to the FIA F3 Championship in 2023, after being confirmed in the PHM Racing by Charouz line-up.

The Brazilian was a regular in GB3 and its BRDC British F3 predecessor for over two seasons, taking a victory at Spa-Francorchamps in 2021 and multiple podium finishes with Fortec and Carlin, finishing fifth overall for the past two seasons.

He now makes the move into the F1 paddock with the new look German squad, and has completed plenty of testing mileage ahead of his graduation, completing 213 laps with his new machine at the official test in Jerez last year, and will be in action at Sakhir next week.

“I’m really delighted to join PHM Racing by Charouz in the FIA Formula 3 on their new project,” said Faria. “It feels like a dream coming true. Even without knowing most of the circuits in the calendar I’ll do my best to deliver great results and to show the team why they have put their trust in me. I cannot wait to start racing in Bahrain.“

Roland Rehfeld, PHM Racing Team Manager added: “Roberto Faria is one of these young passionate Brazilian talents with raw speed, ambition and demanding focus. His testing was promising, but now, we need to bring him into the working attitude, which is necessary to succeed in FIA F3. So the balance of speed and patience should affect good results through the season. In GB3 he was several times on the podium and finished fifth overall.”
