Spa race three penalties

Spa race three penalties

16 June 2023

Following the conclusion of the Spa-Francorchamps race weekend, a number of incidents remained under investigation, and have been heard today (Friday) at Snetterton by the Stewards.

The Stewards have made the following decisions:

On the first lap, the driver of car 32 (Shawn Rashid) was found to have ran off the track, rejoined and made contact with car 99 (Daniel Mavlyutov), causing Mavlyutov to spin. Rashid has been handed a three place grid penalty for race one. Full decision.

In addition, Rashid was found to have continued with damaged suspension, decelerating in the middle of the track resulting in car 5 (Matthew Rees) making contact with the rear of Rashid, turning him into the path of car 9 (Zak Taylor) and causing a collision. Rashid has been handed a further three place grid penalty for race one at Snetterton. Full decision.

The driver of car 7 (Tymek Kucharczyk) was found to have overtaken car 43 (Costa Toparis) with all four wheels off the circuit at turn 17, gaining a lasting advantage. Kucharczyk has been handed a three place grid penalty for race one at Snetterton. Full decision.

The driver of car 3 (Noah Ping) was found to have caused a collision with car 42 (Max Esterson), and has been handed a three place grid penalty for race one at Snetterton. Full decision.

If unable to serve full penalties in race one, the drivers above will carry over any remaining penalty places to subsequent races.

The driver of car 16 (McKenzy Cresswell) was also investigated for gaining an advantage with all four wheels off the circuit, but after examining all the evidence presented to them, the stewards found he did not gain an advantage. Full decision

There have been no amendments to the results of race three at Spa-Francorchamps.
