GB3 champion O’Sullivan confirms F2 graduation for 2024

31 October 2023

2021 GB3 champion Zak O’Sullivan has confirmed that he will graduate to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2024, with the ART GP team.

The 18-year-old Briton, a member of the Williams F1 Academy, moves up from FIA F3, having finished as the series runner-up this year.

O’Sullivan won the GB3 Championship in 2021 with Carlin, taking seven wins across the year after a dominant campaign. He also won the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Award in the same year.

He then moved up to F3 with the same squad in 2022, before switching to Prema this year.

The Cheltenham resident now makes the next step up the ladder, and in to F1’s premier feeder category.

“I am delighted to join forces with ART Grand Prix for the 2024 FIA Formula 2 season” said O’Sullivan.

The team has clearly demonstrated it has all the attributes to win, so I cannot wait to get started. ART have already made me feel very welcome. 2024 is set to be an exciting year and I feel ready for the challenge.”

Sébastien Philippe, CEO and President of ART GP is looking forward to welcoming his latest recruit to the squad:

“I'm delighted about the collaboration between Zak and ART Grand Prix. He's a driver we've been following for a long time, and he has consistently elevated his level of performance.

“His background and mindset align with ART Grand Prix's mission of supporting young drivers to the highest levels of motorsport. It's with pleasure and honor that we welcome a member of the Williams Racing Driver Academy.

“With proper winter preparation, his racing approach and adaptability should enable him to compete at the front.”
