Loake eagerly anticipating Zandvoort “adventure”

JHR Developments’ Joseph Loake returned to front-running form last time out at Brands Hatch, as he claimed his fourth race victory of the season.

That victory and a runner-up spot meant he and Callum Voisin edged clear of their nearest rivals at the top of the championship standings, as the two mirrored each other’s results.

Whilst the return to form was timely for Loake, he admits that GB3’s maiden trip to Zandvoort this weekend is a step into the unknown.

“Zandvoort is a circuit that nobody knows where they will be come qualifying, so for me it is important to just focus on what we’re doing as a team and try to get the most out of the weekend as possible,” he says.

Like the majority of the field, he’s been able to get some running at the Dutch circuit and is looking forward to the challenge.

“I have driven the GB3 car around Zandvoort, and it’s safe to say it’s quite an adventure! The circuit has so much character and I’m looking forward to racing round there.”

With the event at Zandvoort immediately followed by the season finale at Donington Park, Loake is locked in battle with Callum Voisin for the title, sitting 14 points behind the Rodin Carlin driver and 28 clear of Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Alex Dunne.

He’s wary that the title race is still wide open though, and instead is focusing on maintaining his regained momentum.

“While it may look like myself and Callum are the only drivers in contention for the championship now, I still have to keep an eye out on Alex too, as we know how strong he can be, and I’m sure he hasn’t given up just yet.

“A double header is a new experience for me in my career, but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be good fun and important to carry all the momentum we have started at Brands Hatch.”

Not only has Loake got a busy championship run-in, but is also gearing up for the Aston Martin Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award assessments at Silverstone, a crucial milestone in any young driver’s career.

“It’s an absolutely amazing opportunity for me. I cannot wait to drive such awesome cars and to meet some incredible people.

“I see this as a huge opportunity to prove to the world what potential I could have!”
