Pearson looking forward to “amazing” Zandvoort challenge

Fortec Motorsport’s Edward Pearson has been making continuous progress in his first year of GB3 Championship action with Fortec, establishing himself as a top-10 contender on numerous occasions so far.

The 16-year-old already has a podium from the season opener at Oulton Park, and has backed that up with top-five finishes at Snetterton and Brands Hatch. However it’s his performances at Spa and then Brands Hatch which has stood out so far, especially after carving through the field at the latter.

“I think we’ve been getting better throughout the season, which of course was the aim of this season so we can carry it on into next year” he says. “But highlights other than Oulton have been Spa where we had really good pace and then Brands Hatch.

“It didn’t look the best on quali pace but we were faster than people think. Coming from 24th to 14th in the space of six laps isn’t too bad! I think we’ve been improving which is all we wanted really.”

Heading to Zandvoort, Pearson is hopeful that he can repeat his Spa form, where he took his first top-10 qualifying result, and having tested at the Dutch Grand Prix venue, is looking forward to racing at the iconic venue.

“I think we can replicate Spa, 100%. I think Zandvoort will suit us quite a bit, and the same with Donington, it suits my driving style, but we’ll see what happens.

“I’ve never been to Zandvoort in anything so just to go round it is amazing and as a little F1 fan as well, it’s just amazing. In this car as well, it just makes it five times better. We’re racing on the same package as Valentino Rossi, which is just incredible, he’s the best.”

As for the future, Pearson is aiming to remain in GB3 with Fortec next season, with high ambitions.

“I see me in this car with Fortec, for next year, 100%. We should be looking at top-five, we can go for that.“
