Cresswell leads Silverstone session four, Hedley fastest overall on Thursday

25 April 2024

Elite Motorsport’s McKenzy Cresswell topped the final Thursday session times at Silverstone, but his 1m52.911s fell just a couple of tenths shy of James Hedley’s best of the day, 1 am52.743s set in session two.

Cresswell’s session four topper came despite the ongoing threat of drizzle, and put him 0.207s clear of Fortec’s session three pace setter Arvid Lindblad, who is gaining circuit experience for his FIA F3 campaign.

Lindblad was 0.055s clear of Rodin’s championship leader Louis Sharp, with Elite Motorsport’s Jarrod Waberski next up in fourth, a quarter of a second further back.

FIA F3 race winner Martinius Stenshorne continued his preparations for his GB3 appearance this weekend with the fifth quickest time for Chris Dittmann Racing, while JHR’s John Bennett matched the Norwegian’s effort, but was placed behind due to setting the time later in the session.

VRD Racing’s Nikita Johnson was seventh and only 0.032s further back, and 0.034s clear of Hedley, who was eighth in the final test of the day.

The session four top-10 was completed by Will Macintyre (Hitech) and Shawn Rashid (VRD by Arden), with 0.785s covering the leading runners.

On the combined times for the day, Hedley’s session two effort put him 0.156s clear of Sharp, who also set his best effort in the second test.

Lindblad’s session three effort was enough to put him third overall on the day ahead of Cresswell, Waberski and Rashid.

Bennett, Kucharczyk, Stenshorne and Johnson complete the top-10 on the combined times, with just half a second covering them all. Just 1.6 seconds covered the top-22 runners on Thursday, with two more sessions to follow on Friday.
