Kucharczyk draws level at the top of Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup

30 April 2024

Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Tymek Kucharczyk thrust himself into contention for this year’s Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup standings, with a double pole at Silverstone last weekend.

The Polish driver, who has shown supreme speed at Silverstone previously, was a class act in a tricky damp qualifying session on Saturday morning.

He already looked to have claimed pole with a 2m05.103s lap, but another effort right at the end of the 20 minute session shaved just under two hundredths of a second off it. That remarkable consistency meant he claimed both poles on offer, the first being over half a second clear of the field, making for the third biggest qualifying pole margin since 2016!

For race two, with the grid decided by each driver’s second quickest times, the margin was even bigger, as he lapped almost nine tenths faster than his immediate rivals.

Kucharczyk converted race one pole into his first GB3 victory, as he led every lap at the home of the British Grand Prix, while he was third in the second race, leaving Silverstone as the joint top scorer across the event.

His two poles meant he earned £500 in prize money across the weekend, and claimed two additional trophies too. He’s now level at the top of the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup standings, with Rodin Motorsport’s championship leader Louis Sharp having also done the double at Oulton Park.

2024 Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup standings:
