Rodin Motorsport’s Louis Sharp recorded the fastest time in both Thursday sessions, as the GB3 Championship made its official debut at the Hungaroring.
Sharp’s best time came of the day came in the second session, registering a 1m39.468s, bettering his 1m40.794s in the first session.
The New Zealander was just over half a tenth clear of the pack, headed by Hitech Pulse-Eight’s championship leader Tymek Kucharczyk. The lead two enjoyed a reasonable gap to the rest of the field, headed by JHR’s John Bennett, who was three tenths of a second further back.
Three-time race-winner Will Macintyre was fourth quickest, 0.061s away from Bennett and a tenth of a second clear of Elite’s McKenzy Cresswell.
Series returnee James Hedley was sixth fastest on his Rodin Motorsport bow, 0.046s ahead of Elite’s Jarrod Waberski, with JHR’s second car of Patrick Heuzenroeder eighth, 0.020s away from the South African and 0.028s ahead of the third Rodin car of Arthur Rogeon.
Hugo Schwarze ensured all Elite cars were inside the top-10, which was covered by six tenths of a second.
The top-13 cars were within a second of Sharp’s benchmark, with less than two seconds splitting the 21-car field. All drivers recorded their best times in the final session.
Testing resumes tomorrow, with the first of two sessions due to commence at 11.36 local time (10.36 UK).
