Louis Sharp, Tymek Kucharczyk and Will Macintyre were the top-three finishers in the second race of the weekend at the Hungaroring. Here's how the top-three reacted at the end of the contest.
Winner, Louis Sharp, Rodin Motorsport:
"Being P5 was not where I wanted to be and I wanted to make up positions. I was thinking if I could get one or two on the first lap that would be pretty good, but I ended up getting all four of them! It was a fantastic start, I got two around the outside into turn one, and one around the outside into turn two. The move into turn two was pretty close, it was a squeeze but I was just able to hang on with it. And then I think Gerrard [Xie] had an issue or something and he slowed down a bit, so I was able to get him into the chicane. It was a really good job and I've got to give the team a big thank you, I think we struggled a bit in qualifying yesterday with the car but I think the boys have done a good job at turning it around and we're back at the front where we should be. Since Oulton Park our season hasn't quite gone to plan, we've been fast but always a bit unlucky. So it's good to finally get another win and get closer to the championship lead again.
"I can't share too many secrets but we tried something going into this weekend, but I don't think it was quite what we expected it to be. We went back to what we knew and it ended up giving us a lot of pace. I want to give a big thankyou to the boys, it's been a tough weekend so far but we've worked really hard to get us back to the front, and I'm really happy with the win."
Second, Tymek Kucharczyk, Hitech Pulse-Eight:
"It was a bit of my mistake into turn two to be honest. I should have taken a different line and shouldn't have allowed him [Sharp] to be on my right side. It's a shame because then Gerrard had some technical issues with his car and he probably would have won. But anyway P2 is alright, some more strong points and we just keep on going. I think we still have a good car, I maybe cooked the rear tyres a bit too much on the first two or three laps which caused a bit of trouble in the end, but it was an alright race.
"The car felt alright in the first two or three laps, but it was a bit of my rough driving I think, and I wanted a bit too much from the car. I struggled a bit in the middle part of the race to be honest. For a pretty messy race, I think P2 is good to come away with and we look forward for race three."
Third, Will Macintyre, Hitech Pulse-Eight:
"It's nice to be back up here, obviously it's not the result we wanted, letting Louis and Tymek in front of me, and obviously I'm battling against them in the championship. But points are points.
"We will give it our all in the next race, and see if we can win some back on Tymek and Louis."
