Hitech Pulse-Eight's Gerrard Xie became the fourth different driver to secure a pole position in qualifying in this year's GB3 Championship, with a superb performance on Saturday at the Hungaroring.
The Chinese driver earned his first GB3 poles with a late flying lap in Saturday morning's session, his 1m39.629s being just six thousandths of a second quicker than teammate and Pole Position Cup leader Tymek Kucharczyk.
Xie therefore took the full £500 prize money on offer, as well as two trophies, and converted the first pole into his maiden victory, leading every lap in an exemplary drive.
The battle for this year's Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup, and the end of year trophy plus £2,000, looks set to be every bit as fierce as the outright title battle.
Kucharczyk leads the way at the halfway mark with three poles secured at Silverstone and Spa. Sharp is equal second with Xie, courtesy of his two poles at Oulton Park. John Bennett is also in the contest, having taken race two pole at Spa-Francorchamps.
