Chris Dittmann Racing has confirmed that Rishab Jain will join the team for the first weekend of the GB3 Championship at Oulton Park, completing the team’s three-car line-up for the season opener.
Rishab attended his first Formula 1 World Championship race at just two years of age, when his parents took him to Sepang in Malaysia, and his passion for the sport led to spells in karting and sim racing, before making his car racing debut in the Sports Prototype Cup Korea, scoring a podium finish.
Joining the Rosberg Racing Academy as he aimed to bridge the gap from karting to single-seater racing, he then competed in six rounds of the 2022 Italian F4 Championship, scoring the most overtakes at Vallelunga.
Last season, he competed in the inaugural season of the F4 Indian Championship, taking three top-five results, and finishing seventh in the Drivers’ Standings. He has also juggled his studies with attending the National University of Singapore Business School.
Continuing his dream of becoming the first Singaporean to race in Formula 1, the 21-year-old will step up to the GB3 Championship at the challenging Oulton Park over the Easter weekend of 30 March/1 April, linking up with Flynn Jackes and Sebastian Murray at the Gloucestershire squad.
Rishab Jain said: “We made the decision that we wanted to race in the GB3 Championship after seeing what was out there and quickly started a testing programme. For now, we’re just focusing on Oulton Park but as we keep testing, we potentially will do more races at the end of the year.
“My manager was the one who introduced me to Chris Dittmann Racing, we had a chat, and quickly realised it was a good fit for me. I have had three days testing at Oulton Park, so I know it’s a fun track with no rest, and lots of ups and downs. I’m looking forward to my first race in the car, but I know I will be learning lots and working to reduce the gap to the drivers at the front.”
Team owner Chris Dittmann said: “Rishab has settled in with the team well during the tests he has done so far. He’s relatively late to the party as lots of people have been testing since last year, so he has lots to learn in a short space of time to get himself up to speed, but he’s up for the challenge. We’re looking forward to Oulton Park and seeing how he gets on.”
