VRD Racing by Arden confirms James Hedley for first two GB3 events

26 March 2024

VRD Racing by Arden has confirmed that James Hedley will race for the team in the opening two events of this year’s GB3 Championship, at Oulton Park and Silverstone.

The British driver, who finished sixth in the 2023 standings with the squad, and took wins at Oulton Park and Snetterton last year, and is set to race the car that will be driven by Nikita Johnson from the Spa-Francorchamps round onwards.

Hedley is the 2019 Ginetta Junior champion and a regular front-runner in single-seaters, having won nine times in British F4 before stepping up to GB3 at the end of 2021.

The BRDC Rising Star has completed a handful of pre-season testing days in the build-up to the new season, and was an impressive third fastest at Silverstone last Wednesday, as he reacquainted to the Tatuus MSV-022 GB3 car.

He’s now gearing up for a return to Oulton Park, with hopes of repeating his triumph from 12 months ago, and aiding the team’s push for the GB3 title.

James Hedley said: “I’m pleased to be back with VRD Racing by Arden for the first two rounds of the season, and keeping Nikita’s seat warm for him! I am super grateful to Dan Mitchell to have been asked to come back and help build on the success of last year, and try to score as many points as possible for the team, and recreate what we did last year. It’s also a great opportunity for me to fight for my career as I still don’t have any 2024 plans beyond this, and therefore I need to create the best opportunities for myself. I’m excited to go racing this weekend!”

VRD Racing’s Team Principal Dan Mitchell said: “It’s a no brainer for us to welcome James back to the team for the first couple of GB3 rounds this year. He proved to us how dependable he is last year, and provided the VRD and Arden collaboration’s first victory together at Oulton Park. We’d love for him to repeat that this weekend.”

Arden Team Principal Garry Horner said: “James had a strong season with the team in 2023 and we have continued our close bond since then. We are delighted that James will drive for VRD Racing by Arden this weekend at Oulton Park and hopefully we can kick off this season in a similar fashion to the last.”
