GB3 returnee John Bennett topped the times in the first test session of the week at Oulton Park this morning (Friday).

The British driver recorded a best time of 1m32.758s on his final tour, in a damp start to the event. Bennett was 0.211s quicker than Rodin’s reigning British F4 champion Louis Sharp with Chris Dittmann Racing’s Flynn Jackes just under two tenths further back in third.

VRD Racing by Arden’s Noah Ping was next up in fourth, 0.063s behind the Filipino-Australian, and a quarter of a tenth ahead of the lead Fortec car of Colin Queen.

Ping’s teammate for the opening two rounds, James Hedley, was nine thousandths of a second away from Queen and the final driver within half a second of the fastest time.

Rodin Motorsport duo Arthur Rogeon and Ugo Ugochukwu were next up, with both being within a second of the pace.

The third VRD Racing by Arden car of Shawn Rashid and the lead Hitech Pulse-Eight machine of Will Macintyre completed the top-10.

A total of 22 cars completed the test, with VRD Racing by Arden running a fourth car for 15-year-old Nikita Johnson, who continues to gain experience in the car ahead of his series debut at Spa in May.

Two more GB3 test sessions are due to follow today, at 12.05 and 15.00 respectively.
