Jackes leads disrupted first Friday session

29 March 2024

Chris Dittmann Racing’s Flynn Jackes set the pace in a disrupted opening test session of the day on Friday morning at Oulton Park.

Jackes headed a team 1-2 in the session, with a best time of 1m31.231s, over six tenths clear of teammate Seb Murray.

Thursday pace setter James Hedley was third quickest for VRD Racing by Arden as he continues to operate at the sharp end this week, with Ugo Ugochukwu the lead Rodin Motorsport runner in fourth.

Gerrard Xie was the top Hitech Pulse-Eight driver in fifth, ahead of the second VRD by Arden car of Noah Ping.

Elite Motorsport’s Jarrod Waberski was seventh quickest, with the third Chris Dittmann Racing car of Rishab Jain eighth, though the Singaporean brought out the red flags that ended the session a couple of minutes early, after an off exiting Druids, from which he emerged unhurt.

Arthur Rogeon, who also brought out a red flag halfway through the session, was ninth, with VRD by Arden’s Nikita Johnson completing the top-10.

The disrupted nature of the session, and the track surface still being damp in some places meant that yesterday’s quickest time of 1m30.709s remains the fastest of the week so far.

The final test session of the week is due to commence at 13.20.
