Bennett ups the pace in session two

31 May 2024

A last gasp lap from JHR Developments’ John Bennett ensured the British driver recorded the fastest lap of the day so far in Friday’s second GB3 Championship test session at Spa Francorchamps.

Despite a rain shower just as the session went green, times were soon faster than in session one, with Rodin’s Ugo Ugochukwu on course to top the times heading into the final few minutes. But right at the end, Bennett went over six tenths faster than the American with a 2m27.277s to knock him off top spot.

Behind the top two came the second Rodin of championship leader Louis Sharp, and teammate Arthur Rogeon, who was a couple of tenths further back.

Noah Ping enjoyed his best session for VRD Racing by Arden to register the sixth quickest lap ahead of Elite Motorsport’s McKenzy Cresswell.

Edward Pearson was the lead Fortec runner in seventh, a tenth clear of Cresswell’s teammate  Jarrod Waberski, with Hitech Pulse Eight’s Gerrard Xie and the second Fortec of Colin Queen completing the top-10, the pair separated by less than half a tenth.

The final test session of the week is due to start at 15.44 local time, with qualifying following at 17.15.
