Elite Motorsport's McKenzy Cresswell set the fastest ever GB3 qualifying lap at Brands Hatch this morning to secure race one pole.
Cresswell's lap of 1m18.479s came just before the midway point in the session, and proved enough to keep him on top of the times for the remainder of the 20 minute qualifying.
A red flag with five minutes remaining after Aditya Kulkarni spun on the Cooper Straight disrupted run plans, but when the session resumed, there was still enough time for the majority of the field to make improvements.
While Cresswell was unable to better his record-breaking effort, JHR's title challenger John Bennett was able to take second with his very last lap, just 0.020s away from the Elite Motorsport contender.
Rodin's championship leader Louis Sharp also improved on his final tour to take third. That last lap also ensured his second best time was good enough to claim pole for race two, his fifth of the year, provisionally securing the 2025 Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup and the £2,000 end of year prize in the process.
To add further spice into the mix, Hitech's title hopeful Tymek Kucharczyk completed the top-four, ensuring the lead three contenders in the standings will fill the front two rows of the grid for race one.
Elite's Hugo Schwarze delivered his best qualifying result of the year with fifth, 0.070s ahead of Hitech's title outsider Will Macintyre.
Patrick Heuzenroeder (JHR) and Gerrard Xie (Hitech) were seventh and eighth ahead of Rodin's Arthur Rogeon and Elite's Jarrod Waberski - the top-10 covered by less than half a second.
Sharp's second best lap ensured he claimed race two pole ahead of Cresswell, with Bennett and Kucharczyk next up. Waberski, and Schwarze were fifth and sixth ahead of Rogeon, Heuzenroeder, VRD Racing by Arden's Nikita Johnson and returning GB3 champion Callum Voisin.
The first race of the weekend is due to commence at 14.50.
