Louis Sharp, John Bennett and Tymek Kucharczyk were the top-three finishers in the second race of the weekend at Brands Hatch. Here's how each driver reacted at the end of the contest.
Louis Sharp, Rodin Motorsport, winner
“One step closer, I'm not 100% sure what the points are, I think it’s around 25, around that margin so definitely a good advantage to go into the last race. John and Tymek behind me were definitely very fast, I think they did have the pace over me but luckily got a good restart and the initial start was good enough as well to keep ahead of them and keep the win.
“As long as I score points in race two I think we should be fine. The most points John can win is around 30 or 32.
“So I just need to score a few points, and that’s if he wins which around here it’s pretty difficult to do so I’ve got two of my teammates starting near the front as well so, yeah, hold position and if I can make up a few, cool, but I’ll take zero risk and hopefully can come home with the championship.
“Although I’m from New Zealand I have lots of family in the UK so really cool to have them here supporting and it’s very cool to see them here today.”
John Bennett, JHR Developments, second
“Another strong P2 which is really good but it’s just impossible to overtake around here. Louis had a gap off the start and then that was pretty much the race. It all comes down to qualifying as always and we’re still in the fight coming into the last race so we’ll see what we can do.
“There are a lot of dropped points throughout the year but it’s the same for every driver. Things to learn from and the same for me moving forward.”
Tymek Kucharczyk, Hitech Pulse-Eight, third
“I gave my all you know, did everything I could. I jumped one driver on the start and then it was more just counting on mistakes from drivers ahead but both John and Louis did a good job. Our pace was much better today than it was yesterday so a good race from us but not enough.
“That’s everything we could do really, it’s come down to Teams Championship. I think this season has been strong, really quick throughout the season, but yeah not always the fastest drivers win the championship. It didn’t happen this time out, a strong season, but should have been a bit better.”
