Sharp does the Donington double in GB3 race two

08 September 2024

Rodin Motorsport’s Louis Sharp continued his perfect Donington Park weekend with another lights to flag win in the second race of the event.

The pole sitter made a strong start in drying conditions to lead title rival Tymek Kucharczyk on the run to Redgate, and then pulled away at a rapid rate, by over a second a lap in the early stages.

He ultimately won by over two seconds, as he brought it home safely to claim his fourth win of the campaign and further pull away at the head of the standings.

Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Kucharczyk settled for second ahead of Rodin’s Freddie Slater, who is under investigation for nudging Noah Ping onto the grass at the start. Slater started fourth, but moved into third with a move on Gerrard Xie on lap three to provisionally complete the podium.

Despite his wobble after the grassy moment on lap one, Ping claimed his best result since Spa with fourth, three seconds clear of the third Rodin Motorsport car of Arthur Rogeon.

Xie dropped to sixth after picking up a track limits penalty mid race, putting him ahead of JHR's John Bennett in seventh.

Colin Queen, raising money for the British Heart Foundation this weekend, took eighth in his Fortec Motorsport machine ahead of Hitech's Will Macintyre, who had to battle hard with Elite's McKenzy Cresswell who completed the top-10.

Sharp was also presented with the Muriel Tomlinson Trophy by the Donington Park Racing Association Club after the race. The club presents trophies at major events at the circuit throughout the year.

The final race of the weekend is due to start at 15.20.
