What they said: Silverstone race three

27 April 2025

Will Macintyre, Keanu Al Azhari and Patrick Heuzenroeder were the top three drivers in the final GB3 Championship race of the season opening weekend at Silverstone. Here's how they reacted at the end of a dramatic contest.

Winner, Will Macintyre, Elite Motorsport:
“I made up positions in race one. An issue in race two meant we stalled on the grid, but we knew we’d have the pace in this one. We’ll take the win, we’ll take the points and move on to round two.

"After the first lap I definitely was like 'woah, okay,' but after that I had a really good safety car restart and just from then on I went at it. It was an interesting first lap.”

Second, Keanu Al Azhari, Hitech TGR:
“Not the start I wanted, I just misjudged the new cars and we haven’t got much experience but I definitely learned from that. Some good moves Back up to P2, almost P1 but a good job to Will. Obviously it hasn’t been the weekend we wanted. DNF in race two but I’m working really well with the team. I want to say a quick thank you to all the boys, they’ve done such a hard job last night and today to get my car ready for this race, the reverse grid, so I’ll take a P2. Just something positive to take into Zandvoort.

"I was more focused, but I just wanted to bring something back for the team, at least make them happy as it’s not been an easy weekend for us. I’m really looking forward to the next rounds and it’s just going to get better.”

Third, Patrick Heuzenroeder, Xcel Motorsport:
“It was a pretty hectic first lap, with the four of us going for P1. It got a bit tight in the chicanes there but overall these cars are great to race on lap one, after that it’s a bit hard to follow. I was pretty happy with the tyres, I think we were on the older set so to be able to race on those was nice. It was a good battle with Keanu and DRS was good to use.

"It’s good to see it [drama] in the mirrors, I saw some smoke but it was all eyes forward as soon as I was gaining spots and it was just eyes forward and try and get past the next one. I'm very happy, we’ve worked hard to get the cars into the window this weekend. We weren’t quite there in qualifying so to give the boys a podium was really good and I forgot to thank the boys in New Zealand so that goes out to them.”
