Slater storms to early lead of Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup

29 April 2025

Hillspeed's Freddie Slater is the early leader of the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup, thanks to his sensational pole double at Silverstone.

In the new two-part qualifying session, Slater claimed both pole positions on offer, and as a result, two additional trophies and an £600 in prize money.

Slater's pole lap in session one was a 1m52.194s, at that point, the fastest GB3 qualifying lap on record, and 0.556s ahead of the nearest driver, the third biggest pole position margin in the series since 2016.

Following the five minute gap between sessions, enough time to bolt on a new set of Pirelli tyres, Slater went even quicker in session two, registering a 1m51.647s lap, 0.427s clear of his rivals, and smashing the old qualifying record by 1.1 seconds.

The Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup has been part of the GB3 Championship and its predecessor series BRDC F4 and BRDC British F3 since the inaugural season in 2013.

Each pole position is worth £300 in prize money, and the driver with the most pole positions at the end of the season will claim the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup and a £2,000 prize. The team of the driver with the most poles will also earn £2,000.

Prizes at each round are handed out by John Cavill, son of John, who has been a huge supporter of young drivers in MSV series since 2013.
