Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic secured pole position for both race one and two at Brands Hatch with a record-breaking display on the Grand Prix circuit.
Having registered a 1m18.108s in the first session, already a new GB3 qualifying record, the championship leader delivered a spectacular lap time of 1m17.660s in Qualifying Two to secure his seventh pole of the season. Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater was his nearest rival, and will line-up alongside the championship leader for both races, but was five and four tenths adrift respectively.
The second row for both races will consist of Hitech’s Deagen Fairclough and Xcel Motorsport’s Patrick Heuzenroeder, who took third and fourth position.
Session one
Ninovic only hit the front late in the first session, with Slater topping the times just before the session was halted temporarily due to Nikita Johnson's stopped car.
But with a five minute shoot-out when the session resumed, it was Ninovic who proved the driver to beat, first breaking the qualifying lap record with a 1m18.345s before setting his ultimate best right at the end.
That was enough to put him an astonishing 0.523s ahead of Slater, with Fairclough just over a tenth of a second further back.
Heuzenroeder was just 0.020s in arrears as he took fourth ahead of Elite Motorsport's Will Macintyre, who was eight thousandths of a second clear of the second Hillspeed of Hiyu Yamakoshi.
The second Rodin of Gianmarco Pradel was next up in eighth, 0.025s ahead of the third Hillspeed of Kanato Le, with JHR's Kai Daryanani and Rodin's Abbi Pulling completing a top-10 covered by 0.980s, despite Ninovic's huge gap at the front.
Session two
Having demolished the field in Q1, Ninovic was even more impressive in Q2, as the Australian blasted to a 1m17.981s just six minutes into the session. No other driver was able to get into the 1m17s, but Ninovic wasn't finished yet, and registered his latest record time, a 1m17.660s two laps later, and with six minutes still remaining.
This time around he was 0.411s quicker than Slater, with Fairclough three tenths further back in third.
Heuzenroeder was fourth again, a tenth behind the Hitech driver, and 0.191s ahead of Pradel, who rose to fifth in session two.
Yamakoshi was sixth once more, just 0.014s behind Pradel and 0.078s clear of Daryanani. Le held on to eighth place again, while Pulling improved to ninth ahead of VRD's Enzo Tarnvanichkul.
Ninovic's latest poles, his sixth and seventh of the season, means he can no longer be beaten in the Jack Cavill Pole Position Cup, and will claim the end of year £2,000 prize at the end of the season.
The first race of the weekend at Brands Hatch is due to commence at 14.45.
