Mexican driver Rodrigo Gonzalez will make his European racing debut with Chris Dittmann Racing in the GB3 Championship at Silverstone on 2-3 August.
The 19-year-old has competed in the USF Juniors category for the most recent two seasons, and currently sits seventh in this year’s standings with a podium at Barber Motorsports Park and six further top-six finishes.
He’s also contested the past two Yacademy Winter Series campaigns, finishing eighth overall in this year’s running for junior single-seaters in Florida.
Gonzalez’s racing career only began with karting in 2022, across local and national categories in Mexico, before moving up to international events the following season, when he was a leading X30 competitor in SKUSA Mexico.
Rodrigo has already sampled the team’s Tatuus MSV GB3-025 car in testing at Anglesey and is now gearing up for his maiden GB3 race event, which will be his sole appearance with Chris Dittmann Racing before he finishes the season with another squad.
Rodrigo Gonzalez said: “I’m incredibly excited to take this next step in my career and make my European racing debut in the GB3 Championship with Chris Dittmann Racing. Silverstone is such an iconic track, and I’m really grateful for the opportunity to race there. The team has been very supportive, and testing the GB3 car was an amazing experience. I’m ready to give it my all and learn as much as I can from the weekend.”
Team Principal Chris Dittmann said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Rodrigo to the team, and to be returning to GB3 action again at Silverstone. He’s shown a lot of promise in his short career so far, and adapted well in his test with the team recently, so we’re hopeful he can make an impression when he goes racing. While this is currently scheduled to be his only appearance with us before completing the season elsewhere, we’re very much looking forward to working with him as he makes his European racing debut.”
