Rodin Motorsport's testing pace setter Alex Ninovic is in confident mood after two positive days of running at the Hungaroring left the Australian on top of the time sheets.
Ninovic posted a 1m38.238s yesterday, over 1.3 seconds quicker than last year's pole time at the same circuit, and was just over a tenth of a second clear of the field.
"I'm really happy with how testing went, we've put a lot of effort in and going about it the right way and to come out on top is pretty good. I'm looking forward to quali" he said.
Ninovic holds an eight point margin over the field at the top of the standings heading into the event, and he's hoping a series of good results will extend that gap.
"I'm definitely looking forward to qualifying and the races, I think we have really good potential so as long as we do everything right and everything comes together we should be somewhere at the front."
This weekend's action at the circuit marks his first experience of the circuit, and he appears to have gelled well with the challenging layout.
"It's my first time at the track here so I'm really looking forward to the racing and I think I'm getting used to it quite nicely. I'm enjoying the track, it's got a few nice corners which are very rewarding when you get them right, and I've got to grips with it pretty quickly."
As ever in Hungary, the heat is a factor with ambient temperatures reaching 36 degrees celsius on Thursday. For Ninovic, it's a feeling that reminds him of his homeland.
"The heat isn't too much of a worry, I've raced in 50 degree weather at home in Australia so this isn't too bad!
"It feels fine and when you're in the car it's not too bad and the wind rushing against you cools you down! Being so strong so far, we should be able to do something nice this weekend."
Qualifying is due to commence at 10.50 local time (09.50 UK), with live timing available by clicking here.
