GB3 race 3: Seewooruthun streaks clear to secure maiden victory in Hungary finale

06 July 2025

Reza Seewooruthun went from third on the grid to a commanding victory in the final GB3 Championship race of the weekend at the Hungaroring, securing the first series victory both for himself and the Argenti with Prema alliance in the process.

The British driver took the lead despite a grassy moment on the run to turn two on the first lap, and then streaked clear of the opposition, taking the flag with a 16.585s margin, the second biggest GB3 winning margin of all time.

Seewooruthun finished clear of JHR's pole sitter Kai Daryanani, who in turn was a couple of seconds ahead of VRD Racing's Hugo Schwarze, the German taking his third podium of the season having started fourth.

Elite Motorsport's Flynn Jackes secured a best ever GB3 result in fourth place, having hounded Schwarze for the entire contest, and was frequently within DRS range.

Hitech TGR's Deagen Fairclough was a combative fifth ahead of Xcel's Patrick Heuzenroeder, with Keanu Al Azhari (Hitech) and Rodin trio Alex Ninovic, Abbi Pulling and Gianmarco Pradel completing the top-10, and part of a big train of cars immediately following Heuzenroeder, which extended down to Lucas Fluxa in 12th place.

Seewooruthun made his intentions clear right from the start, going around the outside of Jackes and Daryanani at turn one. He was edged to the kerb on the exit, but kept it planted, kicking up the dust from the grass on the approach to turn two as he challenged Daryanani up the inside.

The pair were wheel to wheel again around the quick turn three right hander, and finally made the move stick on the exit. From there, he simply surged into the distance and kept out of trouble, unlike Elite's Will Macintyre who was pitched into a spin while squabbling over sixth place at turn five with Fairclough, dropping him to the tail of the field.

Seewooruthun's lead was over two seconds at the end of the first lap, and with around a second in hand per lap, he was in a league of his own. He led by 5.4 seconds at the end of lap four, and reached 10.7 seconds crossing the line to start lap 10. His eventual win margin is second only to Lando Norris' 19-second triumph at Snetterton in 2016.

Al Azhari and Ninovic were the biggest movers of the race, gaining four places from 11th and 12th respectively. Ninovic holds a slightly extended 34-point lead at the midway point of the season, almost equivalent to a full race win's margin over the field.

The second half of the GB3 Championship season starts at Silverstone on 2/3 August.
