GB3 Championship runner-up Alex Dunne has reclaimed the lead of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, following his second victory of the year at Imola last weekend.
The McLaren junior, who won five GB3 races in 2023 before graduating to F3 last year, has enjoyed a superb start to life in the prime F1 feeder category, and backed up his Bahrain Feature Race win with another triumph in the Imola Feature race.
The Irishman has now finished inside the top-eight for the past five F2 races with Rodin Motorsport, with a podium at Jeddah further highlighting his cause as a title contender for the rest of the year.
In addition, 2022 GB3 champion Luke Browning stood on the podium twice at Imola, with third in the Sprint Race backed up by second in the Feature.
Racing with Williams Academy support at Hitech TGR, the same squad he won the GB3 title with, Browning has climbed up to second in the F2 standings, six points behind Dunne and three clear of Richard Verschoor, who has several years of experience at F2 level.
F2 continues at Monaco this weekend, as does the FIA F3 Championship. Reigning GB3 champion Louis Sharp enjoyed his best performance yet in his graduation year, qualifying fifth for the Feature Race.
That position meant he started eighth for the Sprint Race on Saturday, and the New Zealander made excellent progress to finish fourth, his first points finish of the season.
His teammate, 2023 GB3 champion Callum Voisin, is seventh in the standings despite finishing both Imola races outside the points, while the third Rodin of Roman Bilinski, a multiple GB3 race winner, was fifth and eighth in the two contests.
