Rodin Motorsport's Alex Ninovic claimed his ninth and tenth pole positions of his title-winning campaign, with another superb performance in the double qualifying session at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza this morning.
The Australian claimed race one pole late in the 15 minute session, with a 1m43.930s putting him just 0.004s quicker than Xcel's Patrick Heuzenroeder, who had held P1 for much of the final stages.
Ninovic then found half a second in Q2, with his 1m43.406s being over two tenths of a second quicker than JHR's Noah Lisle.
Qualifying one
Heuzenroeder looked to be on course for pole, as he aims to wrap up the runner-up spot in this year's championship fight. His 1m43.934s put him on provisional pole before the red flags flew with five minutes remaining for two separate incidents, one at the Variante Della Roggia between August Raber and Jack Sherwood, and at Ascari for Bart Harrison.
When the action resumed, it was Ninovic who took full advantage, with his eventual pole-winning time coming just before the chequered flag flew, demoting Heuzenroeder down to second.
Hitech's Deagen Fairclough was perhaps the biggest improver after the red flag, setting the third quickest time and a third of a second further back having been down in 10th ahead of the stoppage.
Rodin's Gianmarco Pradel was just over a tenth of a second further back in fourth, while Hillspeed newcomer Maxim Rehm was an impressive fifth quickest in his debut GB3 qualifying, and was as high as second before the red flag.
Xcel's Jack Sherwood claimed his best qualifying result of the year with sixth place for the race one grid, 0.020s away from Rehm and 0.073s ahead of Hillspeed's second newcomer Newman Chi.
The third Rodin of Abbi Pulling was eighth fastest, 0.023s behind and a tenth clear of Xcel's Kabir Anurag, while Argenti with Prema's Reza Seewooruthun completed the top-10, which was covered by 0.813 seconds.
Qualifying two
With the tightest qualifying margin of the year in session one, Ninovic was two tenths clear in the second session, with his best time coming around three minutes before the end.
This time it was JHR's Lisle in second place, recovering from his worst qualifying result of the year in session one (17th) to equal his best result in the second segment for the race two grid.
Heuzenroeder again held provisional pole for a while, and was third this time around, 0.002s behind Lisle and half a tenth clear of Fairclough in fourth.
Chi was again impressive to claim fifth place, 0.074s further back and 0.049s ahead of Seewooruthun, who was four places better off compared to his Q1 result.
Pradel was seventh quickest, 0.010s in arrears and a tenth of a second ahead of Hillspeed's Lucas Fluxa. Pulling and Anurag completed the qualifying two top-10, which was covered by just under six tenths of a second. The top-15 were all within a second of the outright pace.
The first race of the weekend is due to commence at 14.05 local time (13.05 UK).
