GB3 contenders Abbi Pulling and Bianca Bustamante delivered impressive results in the FIA Formula E Championship's Women's Test at Valencia on Friday.
Both drivers finished inside the top-three at the end of the day, with Nissan's Pulling second quickest, just 0.064s away from top spot at the end of running, while Cupra Kiro's Bustamante was just over seven tenths of a second further back in third.
Drivers had two sessions of track time at the Spanish venue, and Pulling was the first driver to enter the 1m22s bracket in the test, before being usurped by Chloe Chambers late on.
Pulling's time compared well to those set in the tests for the main season drivers earlier in the week, lapping within 1.4 seconds of the outright best lap of 1m21.493 set by multiple race winner Edoardo Mortara.
For Pulling, it was an opportunity to accrue more mileage in Formula E machinery as part of her role as Nissan's rookie and simulator driver, and when speaking to the Formula E website, admitted it was a potential opportunity for her future career.
“Formula E is something that is really attractive, and I'd like to one day be a driver in this series,” she said. “It's a World Championship, and it’s the pinnacle at the end of the day.
“With Nissan, we've not discussed that far ahead yet, but we're working together to get to the point where I can go on and gather some experience and keep getting better, to open up that potential if I'm able to perform.
“Obviously, that's a bit of pressure on me, but they're giving me lots of support, and hopefully that can keep progressing in the future. But at the moment, I'm purely just the simulator and rookie driver and just constantly learning, practicing a lot of the technique for the race run.”
