Molnar concludes pre-season testing with Brands Hatch record-breaker

09 April 2026

Rodin Motorsport's Martin Molnar ended pre-season testing on top of the times, courtesy of a record-breaking effort on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on Thursday.

The Hungarian driver, moving up from British F4, posted a 1m16.605s inside the final moments of the third session of the day to lead the pack heading to Silverstone in just over two weeks' time. The rapid lap was over a second quicker than last year's pole position time, to date the quickest GB3 time set at Brands Hatch, and over two seconds faster than the best race lap in 2025.

Molnar ended up 0.143s of VRD Racing's GB3 race-winner James Hedley, who is carrying out pre-season testing with the Anglo-American team, with Molnar's teammate Maxim Rehm an almost identical margin further back in third.

The third Rodin of Abbi Pulling, who topped the first session of the day, was fourth quickest overall and 0.030s ahead of Hitech's Deagen Fairclough.

Jin Nakamura, stepping into a Hitech GB3 car for the first time, was an impressive sixth quickest, 0.155s behind Fairclough and 0.033s ahead of Xcel Motorsport's Rowan Campbell-Pilling.

Flynn Jackes concluded his impressive pre-season testing campaign inside the top-10 again, eighth for Elite Motorsport, and two tenths clear of VRD's Nikita Bedrin, who was quickest in session two.

Jackes' teammate Kyuho Lee completed the top-10 during his first visit to Brands Hatch.

Official pre-season testing is now complete, with Molnar and Fairclough having topped three days each, while Rehm topped the second day at Snetterton last month. Action resumes with the pre-event test at Silverstone on Thursday 23 April.
