Deagen Fairclough stormed to double pole at Silverstone this morning (Saturday), securing his maiden pole positions in the GB3 Championship.
The Briton was over a tenth of a second clear of his rivals in both sessions, as he put his Hitech car at the front of the field with the fastest laps of the weekend.
His 1m50.112s effort in session one was enough to be 0.182s clear of Rodin Motorsport's Martin Molnar, before he improved that time to set the fastest lap of the weekend in session two with a 1m49.714s.
It will be an all-British front row for race two, as Sheffield-born Rowan Campbell-Pilling set a time 0.141s off Fairclough's effort for second.
Q1 - Fairclough flies to first GB3 pole
Fairclough backed up his strong testing pace to take his maiden pole position in the GB3 Championship after topping the times in the first qualifying session.
The Hitech driver set the fastest time with a 1m50.112s, putting him 0.182s clear of Molnar, who qualified on the front row for the third qualifying session in succession.
Lucas Fluxa put his Xcel Motorsport car in third, just 0.015s behind Molnar, with home hero Abbi Pulling just over a tenth of a second further back in fourth.
Pulling recorded a lap only two hundredths of a second faster than fellow Briton Campbell-Pilling, who starts fifth alongside the lead Elite Motorsport car of Flynn Jackes.
The final Rodin of Maxim Rehm was 0.010s further back in seventh, with Patricio Gonzalez the lead car for teams' championship leaders VRD Racing in eighth. Jacob Micallef secured his best qualifying position for Hitech in ninth, with Kyuho Lee completing the top-10. Championship leader Nikita Bedrin was only 11th.
Q2 - Fairclough leaves it late to secure double pole
Fairclough secured Q2 pole with his final attempt of the session, setting the fastest lap of the weekend with a 1m49.714s.
The Hitech driver was once again the driver to beat, with his fastest time being 0.141s quicker than Campbell-Pilling in second for Xcel Motorsport. The 19-year-old had looked set for his maiden GB3 pole but had it stolen at the flag by Fairclough.
Fluxa was 0.187s further back to be third-fastest for the third consecutive qualifying session. Similarly to Q1, will be joined by a Rodin driver on the second row – this time Martin Molnar. The pair were separated by just under a tenth of a second.
The second Rodin of Rehm was fifth, 0.309s off Fairclough's time, with Patricio Gonzalez the lead VRD again in sixth, 0.024s further back.
Championship leader Bedrin improved on Q1 but was still only seventh on the grid, two thousandths of a second slower than his Mexican team-mate. Alongside him on the fourth row will be the final Rodin of Pulling, just over a quarter of a second off the Italian.
Arden Motorsport's Leon Wilson and Hitech's Micallef completed the top 10.
