2024 GB3 runner-up John Bennett has claimed his first victory in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
The British driver, a multiple GB3 race winner, started from second on the grid in the Sprint race on Saturday afternoon, but took the lead from pole sitter Sebastian Montoya at the start.
Bennett held the lead on the first lap, before the race was nullified by a safety car after a turn two tangle.
He made a good restart and held the lead for a handful of laps before being passed by Montoya exiting turn three.
But Bennett never let the Colombian driver out of his sights, and was able to pounce on the final lap just a few corners from home to take a sensational victory.
The win is not only Bennett's first win in F2, but his first podium too.
