Molnar aiming for "closer battles throughout the season"

20 May 2026

Martin Molnar underlined his credentials as a likely GB3 title contender this year, after displaying front-running pace throughout the Silverstone season opener.

The Rodin Motorsport contender qualified second and fourth on his GB3 debut weekend, and led the first race of the season by a good margin in the early stages, having made a strong start from the front row.

Though he was eventually reeled in by pole sitter and eventual winner Nikita Bedrin, Molnar still secured second place in his maiden GB3 race. Though unable to start the second contest, he concluded the event with a run to 12th in the reverse grid finale.

"Overall I’m happy with the weekend, it was really good until Saturday night," he commented. "Unfortunately I had some issues on Sunday, but overall it was a good weekend."

His race one scrap with Bedrin was one of the on-track highlights of the event, and Molnar is aiming to give him an even tougher time next time out.

"It wasn’t as exciting as I wanted it to be, I was missing a bit of pace compared to him, but I hope we will have some closer battles throughout the season" he adds.

Molnar is joined at Rodin this year by GB3 race winner Maxim Rehm and sophomore contender Abbi Pulling, with the trio proving to be evenly matched on pace. Indeed, the three drivers were covered by just 0.004s in the second qualifying session.

"I think it’s good to have fast teammates, we can learn a lot from each other’s data" he admits. "We get along really well, so there is a really good atmosphere inside the team."

The 17-year-old is one of a number of drivers making the step up from F4 level competition this year, and he's enjoyed getting to grips with the increase in pace provided by the 2026 GB3 car.

"It’s a good step, the GB3 car is is quite a bit faster than the F4 car, it’s always really exciting to drive it, I didn’t expect it to be this good in the high speed corners!"

GB3's first Hungarian is looking forward to the support he'll receive when the series heads to the Hungaroring in July.

"It’s really nice to get this much support from Hungary. I’m really excited to race in Hungary this year, it’s going to be my first time, and I can’t wait!"

Before that, the series heads to Spa-Francorchamps in little over a week's time, and he's looking forward to the challenge provided by one of the world's greatest circuits.

"I’m really excited," he enthuses. "Hopefully the weekend goes smoothly, and we will have good pace. Spa is a really good track, it’s one of my favorites, so I’m super excited."
