Rodin Motorsport’s Abbi Pulling topped the leaderboard in the final two practice sessions at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday.
The 23-year-old was 0.074 seconds faster than VRD Racing’s Patricio Gonzalez in FP2 before setting her fastest time of the day in FP3 to be 0.561s clear of GB3 debutant Thomas Ingram Hill.
“It’s nice to be able to say that I’ve topped a practice by five tenths,” said Pulling. “It’s not often you get to say that!”
The Briton ended the day with the third-fastest time overall, just 0.082s off the pace of championship leader Nikita Bedrin. Having been 11th-fastest on Thursday, Pulling was pleased with her improvements during the Friday sessions.
“We had a lot of issues yesterday and I did one of the fewest laps [on the grid],” she said. “With the setup changes today and things we have done as a team, the car feels mint around here.
“I don’t feel that I’m doing anything overly-special, the car is just in a really good window and I’m driving well too.”
Pulling was cautious not to get overly-excited by her progress, recalling previous weekends where her testing form hasn’t translated into the race weekend itself.
“I topped the test session before Red Bull Ring quali, topped it before Silverstone and topped the Brands test, and then they were some of my worst race weekends,” she said. “I won’t read into [the pace] too much; I know the car is in a good place.”
The 2026 season finale looks to be Pulling’s final weekend in the GB3 Championship, having spent the last two years competing in the series. She hopes to end her time in the Tatuus MSV GB3-025 on a high.
“I’m happy with the progress we’ve made for my final race [weekend] in GB3,” she said. “I just want to make the most of it and have fun, but it is a little bit sad that I don’t know what I am doing next year but am able to do laps like that. It shows that I’m not an idiot and I deserve to be here.”
